Dear All,
Greetings.
I am new to the community.

I am facing an issue while taking traces of applications.

I am using Oracle 10.2.0.1.0 for Linux 2.6.9-5.ELsmp EST 2005 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux.

The issue is that whenever we execute a section of an aplliaction with the trace ON at the PID of the process the the application hangs up and then terminates after a while stating Contact System Adminstrator.

When executed without the trace, it runs successfully.

We have an alternate oracle server which has Oracle 9i server 9.2.0.1.0 on an SunOS sun5 5.8 Generic_108528-22 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-4.

The same application executes smoothly when this oracle DataBase is used.

Are there any compatibility issues between Linux and Oracle for using Trace utility.

I have used both dbms_system.set_sql_trace_in_session and DBMS_MONITOR.session_trace_enable for taking traces.

Please Help

You likely have a loop somewhere in triggers.

Dear All,
Thanks for the replies.

The issue is that, when we execute our appliaction without setting the SQL Trace ON it executes smoothly.

It is only when i try to put a sql trace on the process that it goes haywire.

Is there a bug with 10.2 because this runs smoothly on Versions 9.x.x.x and 10.1.x.x

Please suggest

Kind Regards
Ashish

I found this link which also gives info regarding the same.
However i couldn't make much out of it.

Please help.

Did you investigate the point I mentionned?
Did you try to see if there is any loop in the trace file?

Regards
Michel
