Hi,

I want to add a datafile to the tablespace but I am getting an error that max datafiles exceeded.

How can I troubleshoot the problem.

There is nothing to 'troubleshoot'.

You need to create control file(s) a larger MAXDATAFILES value

Post the exact error message.
Just copy and paste it.
It is far much easier than trying to type it.
