if i get a problem in starting a database in mount stage what error will occur??

I think this is too general of a question as there are many different errors you can receive.

your control files are missing/corrupt
filesystem is missing
binary is missing
already mounted

Please ask a more specific question.

actually this was the question which i faced during interview and also they asked me what will happen if a update statement is issued on database i said a table would be updated.but they said they want the exact steps .
